Ura Dance Workshop

The Cook Islands Ura Dance Workshop is an engaging and interactive session that introduces participants to Cook Islands culture through movement and rhythm. Led by experienced male and female tutors, the workshop explores the fundamentals of traditional Ura dance, including basic techniques, storytelling through movement, and cultural context.
Participants will learn a simple dance sequence together in a relaxed and supportive environment, encouraging participation, connection, and shared experience. This workshop offers a fun and accessible way to engage with culture while promoting movement, teamwork, and cultural appreciation.

Costume Workshop
The Cook Islands Costume Workshop is a hands-on cultural experience that brings creativity, storytelling, and cultural appreciation together. Participants work in small groups and are guided through the process of creating traditional Cook Islands headpieces, learning about their cultural significance and how they are traditionally worn during performances.
Using provided materials, participants are encouraged to collaborate, explore their creativity, and engage with cultural elements in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. While the headpieces are not kept due to the cost and reuse of materials, participants are welcome to take photos and enjoy the experience as a shared cultural moment.

Drumming Workshop
The Cook Islands Drumming Workshop is an energetic and immersive cultural experience that introduces participants to the rhythms and sounds of traditional Cook Islands music. Using authentic Cook Islands drums, our facilitators guide participants through the history, purpose, and cultural significance of the instruments, as well as how they are traditionally used in performances and ceremonies.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic rhythms and play together as a group, creating a shared musical experience that is both engaging and inclusive. This workshop encourages participation, collaboration, and connection through sound and rhythm.
